The noise on roads/tar, gets generated by a lot of variables, including rolling friction, surface textures creating different tones/frequencies of sound waves, and then there’s in-groove resonance. Their outer circumferential grooves have “snow vices” in them, and their tread blocks are embedded with in-groove notches and numerous siping. Founded by Polish immigrants Reuben and Rose Mattus. The biggest surprise is just how much vanilla flavor. When Hagen-Dazs first launched as a luxury ice cream brand over 60 years ago, it offered only three flavors: Vanilla, Chocolate, and Coffee. In other words, this Blizzard is the perfect summer treat, and I can't wait to order it again soon. The ice cream is a pretty white color and it's fluffy enough to enjoy straight out of the freezer it also stays fluffy as it starts to melt. It also has graham-cracker pieces and graham-cracker dust that courses throughout the entire Blizzard, causing the ice cream to adopt that irresistible, toasty flavor.īecause of the graham-cracker dust, every bite tastes like a s'more. Vanilla is the most popular ice cream flavor in the world so it only makes sense to start this list with vanilla ice cream. Instead of mini marshmallows, which can easily turn rubbery when cold, it has chocolate chunks that contain marshmallow filling. Unlike the Royal Rocky Road, which was overpowered by too much marshmallow, and Chocolate Brownie Extreme which was too chocolaty, the s'mores Blizzard had just the right amount of everything. That's exactly what happened with the s'mores Blizzard, which is why it was my absolute favorite. When two classics come together, you're bound to end up with something delicious. Still, if you're looking for a peanut-butter flavor that's not too chocolatey or sweet like the Reese's one - this Blizzard is sure to satisfy. I understand the peanuts on a drumstick are tiny as is, so there was no changing this. I wish the peanut bits were larger, though, since they kept getting stuck in my teeth. Peanut was definitely the predominant flavor, but it wasn't so overpowering that I didn't taste the chocolate. As is the case with most of its blizzards, the vanilla ice cream made for the perfect base, accentuating the peanut-waffle-cone-Nestle chocolate flavor in the mix-ins. Thankfully, DQ has solved that problem by creating a Blizzard with Drumstick bits blended right in that I can enjoy with the convenience of a spoon.Īnd let me tell you, it did not disappoint. Years later, I'm still a fan of Drumsticks, but I rarely eat them to avoid dealing with that mess. And every time, my fingers (and the floor) would end up covered in a melted mess. I'd often dig in the back of the freezer looking for chocolaty Drumstick treats, only to devour an entire cone within a couple of minutes. This Blizzard brought me back to childhood days at my Grandma's house. Account icon An icon in the shape of a person's head and shoulders. Both features are basically lifted straight from Telegram and Viber, where they're incredibly popular, but I won't say no to a good thing.Īnother major change is that WhatsApp now lets you sign in on multiple smartphones, though one of them will have to be on if you want to use the desktop apps for Windows and Mac, and the web app at .Īll in all, WhatsApp continues to tick pretty much every box. In particular, Communities allows organizations like HOAs and clubs to manage multiple groups in one place, and the recently-announced Channels allows for one-to-many broadcasts. Meta has also aggressively rolled out new features over the past year or two that could potentially change how WhatsApp is used. Encrypted messages are even removed from WhatsApp's servers once they're delivered. Everything you send, including file transfers, is fully encrypted. Despite being the most popular messaging service in the world and being owned by Facebook parent company Meta, WhatsApp has end-to-end encryption enabled for all conversations. You can chat one-to-one or in groups with up to 512 participants. The app is a fully-featured messaging client that supports text chats, as well as photos, short videos, voice messaging, and audio and video calls. As of 2023, it has around two billion users, and it's easy to see why: it's a shockingly decent service. Since then, the service has grown both its feature set and user base. Launched in 2009 as a way to send messages over a data connection rather than SMS, WhatsApp was acquired by Facebook in 2014. WhatsApp is the undisputed ruler of free mobile messaging in much of the world. To be honest, this requirement didn't exclude many apps as it's a very common feature, but I still felt it needed to be stated. For a free chat app to make this list, it had to be able to support group messaging. A lot of text messaging doesn't happen one-to-one. If you want to send something over text message, you should be able to-at least as long as it's digital. They can be long essays, but also photos, GIFs, voice notes, YouTube links, documents, and lots of other forms of multimedia. Text messages are no longer 140 characters long (at least if you're not using SMS). Support for pictures, video, and other multimedia. It also helps that it's easier to convince your friends to sign up for a new service if they don't have to pay. Part of this is because most people aren't prepared to pay for them, but it's also because large corporations actually make surprisingly decent apps sometimes. There are a handful of circumstances where end-to-end encryption isn't appropriate, like with public group messaging and some kinds of business communications but across the board, I favored services that cared about your security and privacy. The best chat apps all have end-to-end encryption enabled by default, or at a stretch, they allow you to quickly turn it on. Do you know who can read your SMS messages? Pretty much everyone. Text messaging should be about the person, not the device they use. We don't want any green bubble/blue bubble drama here. If, however, you're starting a friend group, desert island colony, or fan club from scratch and you get to pick the tools you use, this is what you should be looking for in messaging apps:Īvailability on both iPhone and Android. (The only app I'm sorry isn't included is Discord, but it's just not a texting app.) The big reason to use any of those apps is that your friends do. Twitter, despite badly adding end-to-end encryption to its direct messages, isn't here either. Nor did whatever Google is calling its latest messaging foray. IMessage, SMS, and Android Messages didn't make this list. So when it came to putting together this list, that freed me up to be pretty strict about the requirements for inclusion. If that's SMS or smoke signals, you have my full permission to use it-as long as you aren't talking about anything super sensitive. Especially after testing all the texting apps out there, I believe the best texting app is normally the one people will actually reply to you with. The player's main goal in each civilisation is to collect a device known as a Gene Pod, which contains DNA from the culture, and install it into the Timegate. The player encounters a robot which appears to be constructed out of energy in each civilisation this robot is not named in the game, but is referred to as "The Guardian" in official materials. The player may visit the three civilisations in any order, but the Professor's journal claims that he visited them in the order listed this is also the order of the game's four CD-ROMs. Each civilisation is deserted or almost deserted, with the people having recently left in mass exoduses. The player then uses this time gate to go to one of three time periods Ancient Egypt, the Maya civilization, and the Anasazi civilisation. The Player then explores the island, finding the Professor's camp abandoned, and eventually stumbles upon a cave which contains a Timegate, with the Professor trapped inside. The player arrives at the island, picking up the Professor's Camera and Journal, only to realize the Professor is already gone. Professor Alexander Nichols, a friend of the unnamed and silent player character, has called the player to Easter Island, where he believes he has found a link to the legendary city of Atlantis. Gameplay consists of the exploration of various ancient temples and cities, and the solving of complex and difficult puzzles. Timelapse is a first-person graphic adventure patterned after games such as Myst. Timelapse was commercially successful, with sales of 250,000 units by late 2000. Inspired by the game Myst, it tasks the player with the rescue of an archaeologist trapped in another dimension.
